Xenomorphs
The most fearsome creature in the known universe. Respected and hunted by the Yautja, feared and yet pursued by the humans; the Xenomorph species has an intriguing history as a species.
The Engineers
The Engineers are the original creators of the xenomorph species.
Using Xenomorphs as bio weapons in their war with an unknown enemy, the Engineer race seems to have died off, presumably killed by their own creation.
The Engineers utilized bioengineering laboratories around the galaxy as staging grounds for xenomorph deployment.
One such staging ground was the moon LV-223 (See movie "Prometheus")
A similar lab is rumored to have been discovered on Hydra 5.
Contact With Humans
First known contact with humans occurred in ancient human history when Yautja used humans as breeding hosts during their sacred "Serpent Hunts." This occurred inside the ancient pyramids of several civilizations and in the sacred hunting ground in Antarctica.
First independent contact with the human race occurred in 2122 when the USCSS Nostromo set down to investigate an unknown beacon. Later, the Nostromo crew discovered a derelict spacecraft that we now know was an Engineer ship. One of the crew members, Kane, was subsequently exposed to the xenomorph "facehugger."
The facehugger supplied Kane with oxygen as it invaded his throat, placing a single embryo inside of him. Having fulfilled its purpose, the facehugger detached and died. Kane, seemingly fine, resumed his duties aboard the Nostromo.
Later, first contact with a xenomorph drone occurred when Kane unexpectedly "gave birth" during dinner time.
The resulting Xenomorph "chestburster" quickly matured and all but wiped out the crew of the Nostromo.
Decades later, in 2179, humans again encountered the derelict Engineer ship on LV-426. This time, the Xenomorphs were brought back to the colony of Hadley's hope, population 158. There, a queen was born.
Once a queen is present, Xenomorphs seek to do only one thing, collect hosts to breed additional xenomorphs
For each colonist cocooned, a new drone is created. This is how the life cycle of the Xenomorph works.
A drone will collect the host and cocoon them for the queen. The queen will lay an egg containing a facehugger, which will then open once present with a host. The facehugger will impregnate the host with an embryo, then die. The host will remain alive for a short while while the embryo matures. This time varies with each host and has been known to occur both rapidly and over longer periods of time.
The embryo will then tear its way through the host, killing the average human host in the process. The young xenomorph will then mature and take its place among the hive.
Xenomorph tend to take feature variations dependent on their hosts.
Human-born xenomorphs, for example, take on their bipedal characteristics.
Animal-born xenomorphs, such as those born of a dog, have increased speed and run on all four legs.
Yautja-born xenomorphs, or predaliens, take on a whole new set of characteristics.
Predaliens have the unique ability to impregnate a host without the need for a facehugger. These "proto-queens" directly implant multiple embryos into a host, thereby rapidly increasing the number of available drones.
The result is devastating.
Xenomorph Physiology
Xenomorphs most notable physical attribute is their concentrated acid blood.
Given that Xenomorphs tend to use ambush tactics that result in close-ranged encounters, their acid blood has proven to be one of their most dangerous weapons. Gunshots produce acid splash which can kill nearby humans
This acid blood also makes a melee conflict between a human and a xenomorph incredibly hazardous. No known hand-to-hand combat victory with a xenomorph has ever been recorded by a human.
Yautja metal alloys have a resistance to the acidity of Xenomorph blood which gives them a distinct advantage over Xenomorphs concerning acid. Yautja often utilize hand-to-hand tactics against xenomorphs as a show of courage and strength.
In the end, if the xenomorph is allowed to proliferate, unchecked, it will destroy all life in the galaxy as we know it today.
